GFW is applying for the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant
The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) makes this funding available to all eligible entities to support the creation or expansion of community learning centers that provide high-quality academic support, enrichment and youth development programs during non-school hours and summers.
GFW is hoping to expand our after school offerings to students in grades Pre K-12. We are excited about the possibilities and will let the community know if we are chosen to receive monies from the grant!

Guest speaker, Brian Wood taught 8th graders in the College and Career Readiness class all about Trade School, Construction jobs, and Unions last week!



GFW Public Schools is proud to offer school age childcare for the summer through T-Bird Club!
Students in PreK through Grade 5 will get to participate in swimming, field trips, arts and crafts activities, exploring the outdoors and much more! Hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday with fees of $120 weekly or $27.50 per day (with a two day minimum). Registration fees are $50 for the first child and $25 for each additional child and child care assistance is accepted.

Members of the GFW National Honor Society volunteered their time at the Sibley County FoodSshare last week. Way to go students!






Members of the GFW High School NHS chapter helped out at the Sibley County Senior Expo at the Berdan Center in Winthrop.




GFW High School students learned some massage therapy techniques on their field trip to Ridgewater campus in Hutchinson last week.






First grade students got to fly kites during STEAM class last week. Next they will be able to make their own kites and test them outside!

Students at GFW High School helped to kick off Grackle Days today with drive your ag equipment to school day!











Student in the Healthcare and Sports Medicine Career class got to take a field trip to Ridgewater campus in Hutchinson to explore their healthcare programming opportunities.
They learned about the Medical Assisting, Massage Therapy, Paramedic and Nursing programs and were given hands-on opportunities to explore skills in these areas, such as phlebotomy, auscultating heart and lungs sounds, exploring emergency medication, trauma and CPR resuscitation measures, and practiced taking vital signs on each other!









Kindergartners have big ideas for what a new school should look like including a garden, a really, really, really, really big playground, a football field, play room, maker space and more!






Fifth graders had a little fun in the sunshine today where they used sidewalk chalk to design what a new school could look like!











The fifth and sixth grade band students are working hard to get ready for the spring concert on May 11!


The cooks at GFW Elementary made some delicious strawberry yogurt parfaits for 2nd-4th graders today. They look delicious!






Students in Mr. Sellner's Automotive Class were working hard this morning!
