Bowling

Students at GFW Middle School have worked incredibly hard this school year! This hard work did not go unnoticed by the teachers and administrators in the building, so we decided to put together a fun day for our students where they could choose to spend part of the day on an activity that they could be excited about while also spending time with other students building relationships and having fun.

What resulted was Mini Course Day which took place on Friday, May 3 with teachers and staff members setting up activities both on and off campus for students to take part in. Members of the GFW National Honor Society were also on hand to help organize and join in on the activities.

One group of students took a bus over to CODE 3 in Gibbon for an afternoon of bowling while another group went to the Vogel Arena in New Ulm to take part in a variety of different activities. Options at school included knowledge bowl, painting and art exploration, playing Nitro Ball on the tennis courts, and learning Super Smash Brothers. We also had some students head to Lake Marion for a lovely day of fishing and a group who played frisbee games at Winthrop Park.

Students and staff all had a wonderful time in their chosen activities. The day was centered around not only being a fun reward but a way for students to learn something new, grow in their skills, and make new friends.

“I chose fishing as I thought it would be a fun experience,” said sixth grader Brenden Lee. “Mr. Busse made it fun because he taught me how to retie my line and fishing hook when it got tangled.”

“I went bowling,” added fifth grader Megan Hamre. “It was a fun experience and I hope to do it again. My favorite part of the day was doing funky bowling!”

This was a great day for our middle school students as we wrap up a year of hard work!
