- Mr. Schreiner has openings for behind the wheel lessons in December and January. If you have your permit please drive at this time to prevent a log jam of drivers in the spring. THE EARLY SHUTTLE BUS WILL RUN TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS. It will leave the Intermediate School in Fairfax at 6:45 am, and the Primary School in Gibbon at 7:00 am. - Did you know?? It is the law for men to register for the Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. You can do this on your FAFSA or go to sss.gov to register. Failure to do this could result in the inability to receive federally funded college loans and grants, or even become ineligible for many state and local government jobs.

COLLEGE REPS VISITING GFW
Visiting with a college representative is a wonderful way for Juniors and Seniors to gather information about college in general, as well as specific information about the particular college that the rep is from. Visits are in the library. You can sign up and get a pass in the library.
Evening of Excellence – Monday, May 18th, 2020 @ 7:30 pm
Evening of Excellence will be held Monday, May 18th – 2020 @ 7:30 in the high school auditorium following The NHS Induction Ceremony.
The GFW High School Evening of Excellence is the recognition of Senior recipients of college scholarships.
In addition to scholarships, academic awards are presented to GFW sophomores, juniors, and seniors at the Evening of Excellence. These include the President’s Award for Educational Excellence and the President’s Award for Educational Achievement. Below is criteria used for 2019. This may or may not change for the school year 2019/2020, but criteria for 19/20 will be listed here in the fall of ’19.
President’s Award for Educational Excellence: (Gold)
- Seniors receiving this award have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and have scored in the 80th percentile or higher on the ACT in math or reading.
- Juniors receiving this award have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher; and an Exceeded level on the Mathematics MCA as a junior or
have scored in the 80th percentile or higher on the ACT in math or reading. - Sophomores receiving this award have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and have earned an Exceeded level on the Reading MCA as a sophomore.
President’s Award for Educational Achievement: (Silver)
- Seniors receiving this award have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher and have scored in the 80th percentile or higher on the ACT in math or reading.
- Juniors receiving this award have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher; and have earned an Exceeded level on the Mathematics MCA as a junior or have scored in the 80th percentile or higher on the ACT in math or reading.
- Sophomores receiving this award have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher and have earned an Exceeded level on the Reading MCA as a sophomore.
