The AP Biology course is the equivalent of a college introductory biology course usually taken by biology majors during their first year. AP Biology is designed to be taken by highly motivated students after successful completion of a year of general biology. It is required that students will have successfully completed a year of chemistry as well. AP Biology aims to provide students with the conceptual framework, factual knowledge, and analytical skills necessary to deal critically with the rapidly changing science of biology. Students will cover topics such as cells, heredity, evolution, organisms, and populations. Twelve in-depth labs will also be performed during the year. Students may earn college credit for AP Biology depending on their final examination score and the college they choose to attend.
