Equity Services (Achievement & Integration)
GFW school district equity services support the development of an inclusive learning environment to ensure we are narrowing the achievement gap of our learner by creating equitable education for all of our learners. In order to accomplish these goals, GFW will follow the Ten Minnesota Commitments to Equity established by the MN Department of Education as well the GFW Achievement and Integration Plan that provides staff development, student support, and will soon be working in providing a more diverse curriculum.
As a district we understand the importance of communicating with all parents in a language they can understand. This includes notifying limited-English proficient parents in a way they can understand about all programs, services, and activities. In order to accomplish this goal GFW have worked hard to improve the web page so parents can get the information in their own language.
As a district we need to adopt our direction by following the guidance of the relevant laws and guidance of the Minnesota Department of Education. Therefore we have to follow all the regulations and protocols following the
- Title VI, Civil Rights Act of 1964 | U.S. Department of Labor
- Minnesota’s Equity Commitments – Minnesota Department of Education
The purpose of the Achievement and Integration (A&I) for Minnesota program is to pursue racial and economic integration, increase student achievement, create equitable educational opportunities, and reduce academic disparities based on students’ diverse racial, ethnic, and economic backgrounds in Minnesota public schools.
